The song off "The Penance"demo-87 Pestilence were originally formed in the Netherlands in the mid 1986 as a thrash metal band. Later they became a death metal band and incorporated more jazz and fusion influences in their music. Nick Sagias replaced Martin Van Drunen. Nick only lasted about 2 months and never recorded with them. After releasing a number of albums, Pestilence broke up in 1994 when band members decided to work on their own bands. Patrick Mameli reformed the band in 2008.
